ok you arent going to be friends with someone who never talks to u, never keeps secrets, and just flat out ignores u. being loyal i think is kinda like staying true to what you say and keeping plans that the two of u have made. well thats my opinion..

In business I have been hurt by Christian friends who made a commitment and out of greed they turned against me. Didn't care if it may me and my family homeless. I learned very important lessons with that. Even though it has made it very hard for me to trust so many situations in working with people, even in Christian ministry. When that has happened to you more than once it makes you kind of gun shy in working together or getting involved with anybody.
With teens they need to be careful and not make commitments that keep them from getting the right help for a friend that they have may a commitment with. When they have a problem and they need more help than the friend can give them and they say don't tell anyone, what will be your decision if your best friend needs help. What if they are involved in something that is wrong, what will you do ?
But we need to be careful in sharing secrets, if it is not harmful, sin...etc, but just friend stuff or something we want someone to pray about with us and just us. Most people find secrets is something to be shared with everybody else, or if you say don't tell anyone, usually people find that has permission to tell everyone.
I know a teenage girl who had a older Christian woman as a mentor. The teenage girl was very hurt when she found out that the mentor was sharing her problems with others and using it as gossip behind her back. Now that teenager is bitter, angry and hates church.
Being a mentor, or someone who is discipling someone or just being a friend comes with great responsibility.
